Event Operations

I have worked every type of event.  Many of these are large gathering events with high volume attendance requiring a broad scope of services rendered.  Often the Event Operations department facilitates in the arrival and staging of attendee buses, checking in attendees, monitoring crowd control, ensuring safety, providing guest service and regulating other logistical needs.

  • CORPORATE – Corporate events are often CityWalk hosted or park buyouts (full or partial) by large companies.
  • YOUTH – Stars marching bands, cheerleading competitions, Grad Bash and Gradventure are all special offerings to schools and organizations.
  • MARQUEE – Parades, shows, festivals and concerts are scheduled entertainment often maintained by barricades, stanchions, drop-in poles and/or other forms of crowd control.
  • PRODUCTION – Film and video shoots occur on property at closed set locations or sound stages.

Some positions will require a radio to communicate.  Equipment may also include a clicker, personal public address speaker, tall sign, hand stamp, light wand or safety vest.  Depending on the environment, we could be issued personal protective equipment supplies.

I have worked all of the Universal seasonal parades (Holiday Parade featuring Macys, Mardi Gras, Superstar, Mega Movie) including Cinematic Celebration, CineSational: A Symphonic Spectacular and The Nighttime Lights At Hogwarts Castle.
I transferred to the entertainment team to be a scare actor for Puppet Theatre: Captive Audience - Halloween Horror Nights 30.
Attending IAAPA Expo several times, I was able to network with Universal executives.
I was able to visit the new Epic Universe several times prior to opening to the general public. I was filmed riding Stardust Racers then signed a release form for a park documentary streaming on Peacock.
Upon being hired, I retraced my steps from pictures of my first visit with grandmother and father.
I revisited photo spots from my first ever visit again during the global pandemic marking 30 years exactly.

I was the ‘director’ for Universal Studios Florida assisting guests in this video booth.  This is a sample of me experiencing the CGI effects interacting with a green screen.

FUN FACT

My first guest Universal Studios Florida visit was in 1990, just 110 days after the park first opened (I had first visited Universal Studios Hollywood as a young boy in 1975).
