WVCH Radio Station

I was hired to be a board operator and announcer for WVCH 740 AM serving the Philadelphia listening area.  My WVCH shift was generally Saturdays, but I filled in whenever needed including holidays.  According to the program log, I would air programming from tape media (typically analog reels) or via satellite.  This included ministry sponsored programs, live news feeds, sports, weather and music.

I was also the director for the weekly Will Regan Irish Hours each Saturday 12 noon until 2:00 PM on WVCH.

Marcus Hook Baptist Church had a live broadcast on WVCH each Sunday at 11:00 AM from their historical church auditorium.  I would sometimes assist with sound operations and the broadcast from the church site.

I typically worked Sunday evenings at their sister station WEEE 89.5 FM serving listenership in New Jersey.

I helped with radio station special events too. I met nationally televised minister Charles Stanley (founder In Touch Ministries) before his WVCH sponsored rally at the Philadelphia Convention Hall and Civic Center. I personally recorded Jack Wyrtzen (founder Word of Life Fellowship) and John MacArthur (founder Grace to You) providing WVCH radio station drops while at their organization’s large revivals. I kept a good relationship with the management of WVCH after my departure. I would later personally meet Pastor Chuck Swindoll (founder Insight for Living) at his Fullerton church, see Bill Gaither (legendary figure in Southern gospel and contemporary Christian music) at a radio sponsored event and witness Billy Graham (founder Hour of Decision) for a Philadelphia crusade at Veterans Stadium.

FUN FACT

My Mom would listen to WVCH (Voice of Chester) when I was a very young boy.
